Our officers are trained in basic first-aid and emergency response for major incidents such as earthquakes, windstorms, and criminal activity.

Emergency Phone Towers

yellow emergency phone tower with a blue light on topThe Tacoma campus has yellow emergency phone towers located throughout campus. If you need help, press the button to dial Campus Safety. A blue, flashing light will signal a need for help and to make your location easy to find. Find the locations of these phones on the º£½ÇÍø Campus Map.

 

Safety Stations

orange locker-style box adorned with stickers picturing a health crossSafety Stations contain items to use in the event of an emergency. Safety Stations can be found in every º£½ÇÍø building and are commonly hung next to other emergency equipment. When opened, an alarm will sound to alert others of your emergency.

Please call Campus Safety at 253.566.5111 when opening a Safety Station so we can assist with your emergency.

A breakaway, tamper evident security seal lets us know if a Safety Station has been accessed and needs to be serviced. 

Each Safety Station contains:

  • diagram of open safety box with arrows indicating where each of the items can be foundOne First-Aid Kit — From the basics to limited trauma care, this kit contains items for providing limited care to an individual while waiting for emergency medical services to arrive.
  • One Spill Kit — This kit consists of super absorbent towels for cleaning large water spills and collapsible cones to warn others of a slip hazard.  These are not intended for chemical spills. Please call the Facilities help line at 253.566.5152 for assistance cleaning a chemical spill.
  • One Bloodborne Pathogen Kit — This kit contains, a face shield, one-way valve CPR resuscitation mask, gloves, hand sanitizer, hazardous waste bag, surgical masks, etc.
  • One Opioid Recovery Kit — This kit contains 2 doses of Naloxone (NARCAN®) nasal spray, gloves and instructions.
  • One First-Aid Guide — This quick reference guide provides directions on providing care for a variety of medical emergencies.

Stay in the know for campus safety incidents, weather announcements and emergencies - subscribe to You’ll receive a text and/or email alert about classes that are cancelled and/or whether campus is open. We encourage you to sign up for text alerts, because texts may reach you faster.

º£½ÇÍø also delivers announcements via , , website homepage, and email. Check those channels frequently for updates. We encourage you to become familiar with all of these communication channels before an incident takes place.
